Esta tapeçaria bordada integra um fragmento da madeira brasileira que procura ser evocadora do Achamento do Brasil e comemorativa dos 500 anos da Viagem de Pedro Álvares Cabral. Trata-se de um objecto-têxtil miniaturial que contrasta pela dimensão e pela simplicidade com a extensão territorial daquele país.

 

BRAZIL WOOD

This embroidered tapestry contains a fragment of Brazil Wood (Pau-Brasil), evocative of the Discovery of Brazil and commemorative of the 500 years of the Voyage of Pedro Álvares Cabral. It is a miniature textile-object that contrasts, given its dimension and simplicity, with the vast territorial expanse of that country situated in the Southern Hemisphere. Brazil congregates nowadays a vast miscegenated population, characterised by its spontaneity, with a strong cultural identity, expressed, among other things, by the use of the Portuguese language.

LE BOIS DU BRÉSIL

Cette tapisserie brodée intègre un fragment du bois brésilien qui nous renvoie à la Découverte du Brésil et qui commémore les 500 ans du Voyage de Pedro Álvares Cabral. Il s’agit d’un objet-textil miniature qui, à cause de ses dimensions et de sa simplicité, contraste avec l’extension territoriale du Brésil. Situé dans l’Hémisphère Sud, ce pays comporte aujourd’hui une population dont la plus grande partie est miscible et qui se caractérise par une grande spontanéité ainsi que par l’identité culturelle concernant l’utilisation de la langue portugaise.
